As always, January is an exciting time for many reasons. New chapters are begun, new jobs are started, and we can catalog and plan for all the new game releases coming during the year. That last one is why we’re here, because we want to have you totally prepared for all the incredible game releases coming your way in 2024. We believe that this year’s releases are high quality beyond high quality, and we know that once you get your hands on them, there’s no way you’re going to be playing anything else! From new online casino games to word games, to video games, here are what we believe will be the most played games of 2024.

1. Forspoken

If it’s a blockbuster success you’re looking for, Forspoken is the one to watch. Take a step into a fantasy world as a young woman called Frey. Frey hails from modern day New York City, and is whisked off into a fantastical land where she’s gifted incredible powers. Though early looks at the game show incredible transitions through fluid battle moves, it’s the story that is really going to get your attention. You’ll need to use all your new elemental powers to fight off dark forces while you explore this breathtaking world, encounter creatures and magicks and explore all that the game has to offer.

2. MGM Grand Millions

If you like a classic slot game, then MGM Grand MIllions is the way to go. While it’s not a new game, we’re sensing a move back toward classic slot games this year, so this is one of our top picks. There are a total of 243 different ways you can win. The opulent theme reminds players that potential riches are only a spin away, if you’ll just take the chance! MGM Grand Millions is a very simple game to play: click the plus or minus buttons to set your amount and the MAX BET button if you want to go all-in.

3. Hogwarts Legacy

Fans of the wizarding world of Harry Potter have been waiting a very long time for this prequel adventure game, and it looks like the wait is going to be worth it! The graphics alone are worth checking the game out for, as well as the rich colors and textures that fill the castle, and the bright and exciting creatures that populate the world. Though we are no longer fans of Rowling herself, the wizarding world lives on independent of her horrendous opinions and it’s clear that the world is not even close to being fully developed and expanded. Attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a muggle born wizard hundreds of years before Harry Potter was even a twinkle in his parents’ eyes and explore all the secrets that the castle has to offer.

4. Dead Island 2

For a long time, fans thought that Dead Island 2 was never going to become a reality. Those who loved the first game have been champing at the bit and you can bet that when this game is released in April, it’s going to break all kinds of records. In Dead Island 2 you will find yourself in an open-world version of Los Angeles, referred to as Hell-A since an outbreak of zombie plague brought the city to its knees. You’ll play as a zombie slayer, one of a few playable characters with unique abilities that help them slowly make their way through the hordes. It’s a fun take on an old trope with lots of bright and irreverent imagery.

5. Resident Evil 4 remake

Another Resident Evil remake, you question? YES, we cry! And there’s no doubt that this is going to be the best yet. Resident Evil is one of the most remade and extended video game franchises in history, and although the fourth installment did not need a remake, we’re glad it’s getting one. The high fidelity graphics are beyond what we thought would be possible, and the horror that hangs heavy in the atmosphere is incredibly crafted to offer the best possible atmosphere and jump scares. We can never have enough zombie games, so you can bet that the Resident Evil 4 remake will be one to remember.

6. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Finally, after a very long period of waiting, the new Legend of Zelda will be with us in May of this year. Link and Zelda are back in Hyrule, meaning that a dizzying array of puzzles and sky-faring action is coming our way. Though we don’t have too much information about the game, even at this late stage, it’s probably safe to say that there will be a lot of exploration through a brilliantly built world on an incredible scale.

7. Pictoword

Keep your brain sharp with Pictoword on Android and iOS. This nifty little game was the winner of the Academic’s Choice Smart Media Award, and as one of the most-played games in 2024, we know it will hold onto its status in 2024. You’ll be presented with two pictures and asked to figure out what word can come from a combination of the items in the images.

8. Street Fighter 6

There’s not a gamer, or anyone over the age of 25, on this planet who hasn’t heard of the Street Fighter franchise. The sixth installation of the game is coming out this year and, like all its previous incarnations, will no doubt be an instant classic. So far, we know that 18 characters have been confirmed and six of those are new to the franchise. Not much has been revealed about the storyline yet, so fans will have to wait in anticipation just a little bit longer.

Wrap up

These are the games that we’ll be seeing the most of in 2024. If the trailers and little snippets of information that we’ve seen so far are anything to go by, it’s going to be a bumper year for new games, and we can’t wait to get our hands on all of them!
